{"id":20592,"date":"2025-09-17T17:08:07","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T21:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/valuecare.wpgamma.com\/?p=20592"},"modified":"2025-09-17T17:08:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T21:08:07","slug":"brain-tumour-link-to-pesticides","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/valuecare.wpgamma.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/17\/brain-tumour-link-to-pesticides\/","title":{"rendered":"Brain Tumour Link to Pesticides"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"spoiler\">\n<p>Agricultural workers exposed to high levels of pesticides have a raised risk of brain tumours, research suggests.<\/p>\n<p>The French study also indicated a possible higher risk among people who used pesticides on houseplants.<\/p>\n<p>All agricultural workers exposed to pesticides had a slightly elevated brain tumour risk, it suggested.<\/p>\n<p>But the Occupational and\u00a0<a href=\"\/recommends\/TrueGreen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Environmental<\/a>\u00a0Medicine study found the risk was more than doubled for those exposed to the highest levels.<\/p>\n<p>The risk of a type of central nervous system tumour known as a glioma was particularly heightened among this group \u2013 more than three times the risk in the general population.<\/p>\n<p>Gliomas are more common in men than women, and the researchers speculate that part of the reason might be that men are more often exposed to pesticides.<\/p>\n<p>However, the overall risk of developing a brain tumour remained very low.<\/p>\n<p>UK experts said the findings were inconclusive.<\/p>\n<p>The findings were based on an analysis of 221 cases of brain tumours by the French Institute of Public Health, Epidemiology and Development.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"spoiler\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agricultural workers exposed to high levels of pesticides have a raised risk of brain tumours, research suggests.
