What are headaches? Headaches are pain experienced in the head, which can be mild or severe in intensity. Headaches can be harmless or they can be serious, even life threatening.<\/p>\n

Do you wonder about what kinds of headaches there are? You can have a common headache, a tension headache, a\u00a0migraine<\/a>, or cluster headache. You can suffer from sinus headaches, or even a sex headache. You can get a headache as a result of a hangover, or from eating cold ice cream too fast.<\/p>\n

What are the symptoms of a headache? Pain is the obvious symptoms, but you can also have confusion,\u00a0irritability<\/a>, fatigue,\u00a0nausea<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0vomiting<\/a>,\u00a0dizziness<\/a>\u00a0or visual irregularities.<\/p>\n

How are headaches diagnosed? They are diagnosed by reviewing a medical history, and by physical or neurological examination. Tests may be used such as a CT or MRI scan.<\/p>\n

How are migraine headaches cured? Nonsteroidal\u00a0anti-inflammatory<\/a>\u00a0drugs (NSAIDs) are used to treat early and mild\u00a0migraine<\/a>\u00a0headaches. Meperidine and metoclopramide are used to treat acute attacks of\u00a0migraines<\/a>. There are prescription and non-prescription medications for migraines. Depressants are also used sometimes to treat those with migraines.<\/p>\n

Can you prevent a migraine? You may be able to reduce a migraine by avoiding factors that may be associated with past\u00a0migraines<\/a>\u00a0such as emotional situations, or environmental factors.<\/p>\n

What causes a\u00a0tension<\/a>\u00a0headache? It is thought that tension\u00a0headaches<\/a>\u00a0are caused by muscle\u00a0tension<\/a>\u00a0around the neck or shoulder. Tension headaches are usually mild and not debilitating.<\/p>\n

What causes sinus headaches? Sinus\u00a0infections<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0allergies<\/a>\u00a0can cause a sinus headache. Your nasal passages or sinus area may become infected with a bacteria, virus or even a fungus and cause you to have a sinus\u00a0infection<\/a>\u00a0and sinus headache.<\/p>\n

How is a sinus headache treated? Your doctor will give you pain medications and possibly an antibiotic, nasal vasoconstrictors or nasal sprays.<\/p>\n

Your doctor can answer any questions that you have about your particular headache. Anyone can get a headache including children. Headaches can be harmless or serious. They can be painful, or mildly irritating. They can be life threatening and severe pain should never be ignored.
