Too bad they didn\u2019t know that cold-pressed, plant-based oils are far more effective for moisturizing skin than industrial-strength, petroleum-based products, especially in the winter. \u201cSkin tends to lose moisture in the cold, but heaters inside cars and houses also dry the skin tremendously,\u201d says Nadia Arora, ND, of Washington, D.C. And because humidifying oils can be just as beneficial, if not more so, when ingested, it\u2019s as important to moisturize from the inside out as the outside in. Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First line of defense<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nutritious vegetable oils offer benefits beyond beauty. Many, such as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.akobi.com\/remedies-treatments\/herbs-oils.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Olive Oil<\/a>\u00a0and shea butter\u2014derived from African shea-tree seeds\u2014contain essential\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.caije.com\/remedies-treatments\/xtend-life-omega-3-fish-oil-dha-esters.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fatty Acids<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.akobi.com\/remedies-treatments\/herbs-oils.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Vitamin E<\/a>, which soothe and protect skin. Because fats bind to each other, many oils actually can be used to remove makeup and cleanse the face. Beauty author Barbara Close recommends dabbing\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.akobi.com\/remedies-treatments\/herbs-oils.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Apricot<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.akobi.com\/remedies-treatments\/herbs-oils.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kernel<\/a>\u00a0oil on a cotton pad and gently wiping it over the face.
